We finally see Ying-Ying St. Clair who is revealed as, at least as a kid, from a very wealthy family. Such that they had a massive palanquin that they went on the water in. However, this wealth pushed people to be careless and “listless”. This makes Ying-Ying want attention from the people who lover her, especially her mother who she feels does not interact with her enough. Instead her caregiver, who is not her mother, interacts with her most often. However, that caregiver is jealous of Ying-Ying’s mother because of Ying-Ying’s attention. This leads Ying-Ying to wander around the boat and eventually cover herself in “crimson red” blood. Both in an effort to just make herself occupied when she was wandering around the boat. But also in an effort to try to wash off the blood that was attached to her. She eventually is told to just stay in the back of the boat by her caregiver as the caregiver was worried about Ying-Ying St. Clair’s mother being mad. However Ying-Ying falls off of the boat, but no one seems to look for her leading her to think that [[4 - Ref#^261147|“nobody … cared that [she] was missing”]]. She eventually gets found and put back on the shore by some kind lake-goers and she sees a show, which has the Moon lady who Ying-Ying thought was the one from the fables. However the Moon Lady is eventually revealed to be a man in disguise. Ying-Ying forgot what she wanted to wish for becasue of that. Until she was older where she just wanted to be “found”.
